Residents of Kalusha, Azam Warsak stage third-day sit-in demanding urgent reopening of key road
In Lower South Waziristan, the protest over the closure of Palay Chowk Road in Kalusha, Azam Warsak, entered its third day, with residents demanding immediate action from the authorities.
The demonstrators held a protest rally at the site, joined by a large number of local citizens chanting slogans against the government. Locals stated that the prolonged road closure has severely disrupted daily life, halted transportation, and affected business activities, with many shops and markets remaining shut.
Students are facing difficulties reaching educational institutions, and delayed transport of patients to hospitals has raised serious health concerns. Protesters claimed that despite repeated notifications to relevant authorities, no effective measures have been taken, increasing public frustration.
They warned that if the road is not reopened urgently, the protest will expand to other areas and continue indefinitely. The demonstrators urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and local authorities to take emergency measures to restore the road and implement a long-term solution to ease public hardship.
