The Pakistan Super League has officially announced that the player auction for its eleventh edition will be held on February eleven, setting the stage for a highly anticipated event ahead of the upcoming season. The league management has also released key auction rules that all franchises must follow.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, franchises will be required to bid a minimum of fifteen lakh rupees for players in the top category, while the lowest category players will carry a minimum additional bid of two point five lakh rupees. Each team must include at least two uncapped under twenty three players in their squad and ensure that at least one such player features in the playing eleven.
Players selected in the auction will be eligible to sign two year contracts with their respective franchises. Teams will be allowed to retain up to seven players for the next season, while a grand auction after PSL twelve will permit five retentions ahead of PSL thirteen.
Each franchise has been allocated a purse of four hundred fifty million rupees, which can increase to five hundred fifty million rupees for elite foreign players. The deadline for technical bids from potential new owners is January thirty.
This season holds special significance as the league expands from six to eight teams, creating more opportunities for domestic and international players. An auction workshop was recently held in Lahore to brief stakeholders on the updated draft process.
