Low turnout and protests against local leaders reflect growing unrest within PTI in Bajaur
A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Bajaur once again failed to attract public interest, leaving chairs empty and creating an unusual scene of internal protest by party workers against their own local leadership.
During the event, participants openly expressed dissatisfaction with district-level PTI leaders, particularly Engineer Ajmal and former National Assembly member Gul Dad Khan. Social media updates reported that one worker displayed a poster of the two leaders labeled “Public Rejected,” signaling clear disapproval.
Attendees criticized the leadership for failing to address local issues and maintain close ties with workers. Some participants were even forced from their seats, reflecting frustration with both party hierarchy and ceremonial events. Citizens also questioned whether the party is supporting families affected by incidents such as the deaths of four brothers during the Afghanistan conflict and demanded action for the province’s development.
Analysts say this internal unrest could pose serious challenges for PTI in Bajaur, historically considered a stronghold, especially as other political parties gain momentum in April 2026. No official response has yet been issued by PTI local leadership regarding the protests.
The episode underscores growing rifts over development projects, ticket distribution, and marginalization of longtime workers, turning a planned show of strength into what many describe as a public referendum against local leadership.
