BAHAWALNAGAR (Amir Sultan) — The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday carried out a major crackdown against adulterated milk and unhygienic food outlets in Bahawalnagar under the supervision of the Director Operations South.
During the operation, food safety teams inspected 25 food points and 19 milk transportation vehicles across various areas, including Arifwala Road, Chishtian Road and Fort Abbas. As a result of the inspections, seven food units and two milk-carrying vehicles were fined a total of Rs235,000 for violating food safety regulations.
Authorities also discarded 900 liters of substandard milk after laboratory testing confirmed water adulteration and a deficiency in natural nutritional content. The quality of milk was assessed using a modern Lactoscan machine, which helps detect adulterants and nutritional imbalances.
Several food businesses were penalized for failing to meet hygiene standards, officials said. The Punjab Food Authority emphasized that strict enforcement actions are being taken to ensure the supply of safe and healthy food to the public.
Director General Punjab Food Authority said all available resources are being utilized to eliminate food adulteration from the province. He urged citizens to play their role by reporting food-related complaints to the PFA helpline 1223.
