LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the launch of a free ambulance service to transport deceased individuals from hospitals to their homes across the province. The initiative aims to ease the financial and logistical burden on grieving families while ensuring dignified transportation arrangements during difficult times.
According to officials at least one dedicated vehicle will be stationed in every tehsil to facilitate hospital-to-home transportation of the deceased. Families can request the service free of charge by calling Rescue 1122 or through hospital help desks.
The facility will also offer free inter-city transport for deceased persons, allowing families to move their loved ones from one city to another without incurring additional costs.
Officials emphasized that the service will be operational across all healthcare facilities in Punjab providing timely and compassionate support to citizens. The initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to addressing the practical needs of bereaved families and ensuring respectful handling of the deceased.
This program is expected to significantly reduce the stress and expenses associated with transporting deceased family members, offering a humane and organized solution during periods of grief.
