Rain, Thunderstorms Forecast for Karachi, Sindh From Jan. 22

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

KARACHI — Rain and thunderstorms are expected to affect Karachi and several districts of Sindh from Jan. 22 as a western weather system moves into the province, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said Tuesday.

According to the PMD’s Early Warning Centre, Karachi is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Authorities advised residents to remain cautious, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas, as brief urban flooding cannot be ruled out.

The PMD said rain is also expected in Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Dadu, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Naushahro Feroze and Shaheed Benazirabad. Officials urged citizens to take safety precautions during thunderstorms and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather.

Karachi experienced its first winter drizzle on Dec. 30, 2025, providing temporary relief after weeks of dry conditions. Residents welcomed the rainfall, calling it a refreshing change.

Elsewhere, cold and dry weather is expected across much of the country over the next 12 hours. Very cold conditions are forecast for hilly areas, while light rain and isolated snowfall are likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Dense fog may develop over parts of Punjab and upper Sindh during night and morning hours.
