Essential services to remain operational during the two-day holiday across the district
Authorities in Rawalpindi have declared a local holiday on April 9 and 10, 2026, according to an official notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
The notification, dated April 8, 2026, was issued by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema under powers granted by the Services and General Administration Department of the Government of Punjab. The order applies to the entire territorial jurisdiction of Rawalpindi District.
All public offices, educational institutions, and government departments will remain closed during the two-day period. However, the administration clarified that emergency services and essential departments, including healthcare, law enforcement, and other critical institutions, will continue to operate without interruption.
The directive has been circulated to key provincial and district authorities, including the Chief Secretary Punjab, Home Department, School and Higher Education Departments, and local administrative officials to ensure full implementation.
Officials emphasized that the move is in line with administrative requirements and urged departments to comply accordingly while maintaining uninterrupted essential services for the public.
