Conflicting statements have emerged regarding the security arrangements of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Reports initially suggested that his official security had been withdrawn, sparking political discussion and media attention.
According to Gandapur, he shared details of the incident in a message posted to the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf parliamentary party’s WhatsApp group. He claimed that around 11 pm the deputy CSO of the Chief Minister’s security office contacted his security personnel, conveying instructions that all deployed staff should close or stand down.
Gandapur stated that he had been provided with a government issued jammer, a double-cabin vehicle, and a contingent of 14 security personnel. He said that after being informed of the directive, he instructed the staff to comply. He further remarked that even if the security were restored, he would decline it.
However the Chief Minister House Peshawar dismissed the reports. The press secretary to the chief minister denied any decision to withdraw Gandapur’s security calling the circulating claims inaccurate.
The episode has triggered debate, highlighting sensitivities surrounding security protocols for former public officeholders.
