WANA: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera, Syed Ashfaq Anwar held an important meeting with senior members of the Wana Press Club at the Range Police Office Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday. The delegation included prominent journalists and office bearers who discussed regional security terrorism related challenges and public concerns.
During the meeting the RPO highlighted the overall law and order situation in South Waziristan Lower and adjoining areas. He stressed that the police force remains fully committed to eliminating terrorism and ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives and property. Syed Ashfaq Anwar emphasized that sustainable peace is a collective responsibility requiring cooperation from the public, tribal elders, media, and civil society.
He underlined the critical role of local community support in counterterrorism efforts, noting that mutual trust between citizens and security institutions is essential for long-term stability. The RPO assured participants that police authorities are utilizing all available resources to maintain peace and improve public safety.
The meeting also acknowledged the constructive role of responsible journalism. The RPO praised the media’s contribution to promoting awareness and strengthening public confidence. Representatives of the press club shared concerns about security and local issues calling for continued coordination.
