PFA Sargodha Veterinary inspection declares poultry hazardous for human consumption
SARGODHA: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) seized and destroyed 1,500 kilograms of dead chickens during a major crackdown on unsafe food transportation in the Chatrout area of Sahiwal, officials said.
According to PFA authorities, enforcement teams set up a checkpoint and intercepted a vehicle loaded with dead poultry. The suspects transporting the shipment fled the scene upon spotting the inspection team. A veterinary doctor present at the site conducted an immediate examination and declared the chickens hazardous and unfit for human consumption.
Following the inspection, authorities disposed of the entire 1500 kg consignment to prevent it from entering the food supply chain. The Food Authority has filed a formal complaint against the suspects at the local police station, while law enforcement officials have taken the vehicle into custody as part of the investigation.
Officials said the action is part of an ongoing province-wide crackdown aimed at curbing the illegal sale and transportation of contaminated and dead poultry. The PFA reiterated its commitment to ensuring food safety standards and warned that strict action would continue against individuals endangering public health through the distribution of unsafe food products.
