Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has written a letter to Mujtaba Khamenei, expressing condolences over the martyrdom of his father Ayatollah Ali Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and congratulating him on assuming the responsibilities of the country’s new Supreme Leader.
In his message, the prime minister conveyed the heartfelt condolences and prayers of the people of Pakistan to the people of Iran and the wider Muslim Ummah. He said the Pakistani nation was deeply saddened by the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and stands in solidarity with Iran’s leadership and citizens during this difficult time.
Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated Mujtaba Khamenei on taking up the important responsibility of leading the country. He expressed hope that under his leadership, Iran would move towards greater peace, stability, dignity, and prosperity in the coming years.
The prime minister emphasized that relations between Pakistan and Iran are rooted in shared faith, history culture, and linguistic ties. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Iran in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of both nations.
In the letter he also prayed for Mujtaba Khamenei’s health and success, and for lasting peace and prosperity for the Iranian people.
