Sindh Issues Nipah Virus Advisory After Cases Reported in India

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

KARACHI: (Click Pakistan) Sindh Health Department has issued a health warning on the symptoms and transmission of the Nipah virus after the recent reports of its contraction in neighboring India, even though the officials insisted that there is no Nipah virus case detected in Pakistan yet.

The advisory states that the Nipah virus is a Zoonotic virus that is transmitted between animals and humans as well as when humans come into direct contact with each other. Health officials claimed that early detection and prevention is very crucial to prevent any future outbreak.

The department mentioned that the first symptoms of the virus can be fever, headache, cough, body aches and vomiting. In extreme situations, the infection may develop fast and bring about severe complications, which health officials recommend the population to consult medical services in case such symptoms occur.

The situation is closely monitored, and all the governmental and private hospitals are on high alert in regard to the situation, Sindh health officials said. The directive has guided medical institutions to observe guidelines set out by the federal ministry of Health strictly to be prepared.

The advisory also focused on the role of community awareness, personal hygiene and early reporting of suspected cases. The governments attempted to calm people down by assuring them that they have surveillance systems and security measures in place to respond promptly to any possible health hazard.

The officials added that there is no reason to panic because Pakistan has not reported confirmed Nipah virus cases.
