Players from South Africa national cricket team have expressed frustration with the International Cricket Council (ICC) after travel arrangements were not made following their elimination from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi final. South Africa was defeated by New Zealand national cricket team, ending their campaign in the tournament.
South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock took to social media to criticize the ICC stating that the governing body had not contacted the team regarding travel plans. He also pointed out that the England national cricket team was scheduled to return home before South Africa despite being eliminated later.
De Kock added that both the West Indies national cricket team and South Africa had been kept “in the dark” about arrangements, leaving players uncertain about their departure plans.
Fellow South African cricketer David Miller also voiced concern, noting that England received a chartered flight shortly after their elimination from the tournament. In contrast, the West Indies team has reportedly been waiting for seven days, while South African players have been waiting for four days in Kolkata for updates.
The situation has sparked criticism on social media, with several West Indies players also questioning the ICC’s handling of travel arrangements for teams eliminated from the competition.
