ISLAMABAD: (Ayesha Naz) Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has emphasized the importance of cancer awareness and preventive measures on World Cancer Day.
“Cancer is a global challenge, but effective treatment and preventive strategies can save lives,” he said, highlighting the 2026 theme, “United by Unique,” which reflects the individual struggles of every cancer patient.
Sadiq noted that Parliament is committed to improving access to treatment and integrating health services for cancer patients. He praised the government’s historic HPV vaccination campaign, providing free vaccines to girls aged 9 to 14 as a preventive measure against cervical cancer.
He also welcomed the establishment of the modern Co-Eblique Cancer Treatment Center in Lahore as a milestone in healthcare. Stressing the importance of a healthy lifestyle and regular medical check-ups, Sadiq urged society to show empathy and maintain a positive attitude toward cancer patients.
“Awareness and access to medical facilities are crucial in winning the fight against cancer,” he added, underlining the shared responsibility of the government and society in combating the disease.
