Swift police response prevents major attack on Domel Police Station, but blast outside kills five civilians and injures 13.
BANNU: A suicide attack attempt near Domel Police Station in Bannu was foiled due to timely security measures, but the attacker detonated explosives outside, killing five civilians and injuring 13 others, officials said.
According to initial reports, the attacker intended to target the police station but failed to breach security. In a desperate move, the assailant struck a nearby civilian area, resulting in casualties that included three women, one child, and one man.
Rescue teams shifted the injured to nearby hospitals, where emergency treatment is ongoing. Police, bomb disposal units, and other law enforcement agencies swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
District Police Officer Yaseer Afridi visited the site and later met the injured at the hospital. He directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical care and ordered a thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
Afridi said such cowardly acts would not weaken public resolve, adding that Bannu police remain committed to protecting lives and property while continuing operations against terrorist elements.
Authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activity to help prevent future incidents.
