Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ayin-e-Pakistan has strongly criticized the recent press conference by the federal interior minister, calling it misleading, factually incorrect, and an attempt to misguide the public. The organization stated that distorting facts while holding public office reflects moral and constitutional failure.
In its statement, the group accused the government of attempting to conceal concerns regarding the deteriorating health and alleged inhumane treatment of former prime minister Imran Khan in jail. It said the decision to reject government-appointed doctors and insist on the presence of a personal physician was made collectively by Khan’s family, the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and the movement itself.
The statement further claimed that prolonged solitary confinement amounts to torture under international human rights standards. It referenced the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, which has previously declared Khan’s detention unlawful.
The organization demanded immediate access to his personal physician, restoration of family and legal visits, an end to solitary confinement, and transparent, open court proceedings.
