The United States has significantly increased its naval presence in the Middle East, with the number of American warships in the region rising to ten amid renewed threats from President Donald Trump against Iran. According to a US official cited by international media, the deployment includes the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group, equipped with three destroyers and advanced F-35C stealth fighter jets.
In addition to the carrier group, six other US warships including three destroyers and three littoral combat ships are currently operating across the Middle East, giving Washington substantial military firepower in the region. The scale of the deployment mirrors recent US naval operations in the Caribbean earlier this year.
President Trump escalated tensions through a statement on his Truth Social platform, warning that a “massive armada” was ready to act against Iran if necessary. He urged Tehran to “make a deal,” adding that “time is running out.”
Iran’s mission to the United Nations responded sharply, stating that while Tehran remains open to dialogue, it will defend itself forcefully if provoked. The naval buildup follows unrest in Iran linked to economic grievances and protests. Although Trump earlier stepped back from military action, citing reduced executions in Iran, his latest remarks signal a renewed hard-line stance, raising concerns about further escalation in the region.
