Officer killed in collision during 21st Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally at Qila Jamgarh
FORT ABBAS: (Amir Sultan) A police officer lost his life in a tragic accident at the midpoint of the 21st Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally at Qila Jamgarh on Friday.
The incident occurred while the first round of prepaid vehicles was moving from Qila Dilwash toward Qila Jamgarh. According to officials, Officer Bashir, son of Karam Khan, assigned as ASI at Thana Shahr Farid and a resident of Haroonabad, was on duty when he was struck by a vehicle allegedly driven by Mir Jafar Magsi.
Rescue 1122 immediately transported the officer’s body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Fort Abbas. Following the accident, police heightened security along the rally track, moved spectators to a safe distance, and ensured full alertness on the route. Officials confirmed that stringent measures remain in place to prevent further incidents.
The rally, a major event in the Cholistan desert, continued under enhanced police supervision as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
