Prime-time speech expected to outline next steps as diplomacy and military pressure converge
US President Donald Trump is set to deliver a prime-time address on Wednesday, promising what the White House has called an important update on the ongoing conflict with Iran.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the speech will take place at 9 p.m. ET but did not disclose details. The address comes as the conflict enters its fifth week, with officials suggesting it is approaching a decisive phase.
Trump has recently indicated that Washington aims to conclude the war within weeks, claiming key objectives, including weakening Iran’s military capabilities, have largely been achieved. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reinforced that view, saying the coming days will be critical in determining the outcome.
Diplomacy and military pressure intensify
While signaling openness to negotiations, Trump continues to keep military options on the table. Reports indicate that US special operations forces, Marines, and paratroopers have been deployed across the Middle East, preparing for potential escalation.
Officials are also reviewing contingency plans involving sensitive targets, including Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and strategic oil facilities such as Kharg Island.
Indirect communication between Washington and Tehran continues through intermediaries, though Iran denies formal talks. Meanwhile, disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have raised global concerns, with Trump urging other nations to help secure the vital passage.
