Islamabad Police Crack Down on Organized Bank Robbery Network
ISLAMABAD: (Yaseen Hashmi) Islamabad police have arrested two members of the notorious “Sheikho Gang” during an ongoing crackdown against organized criminal groups involved in bank-related robberies, officials said.
According to police, the suspects were apprehended by Khanna Police Station officials following coordinated and intelligence-based operations across the capital. Authorities recovered Rs2.2 million in stolen cash along with weapons and ammunition allegedly used in multiple robbery incidents.
Initial investigations revealed that the arrested suspects were involved in several armed robberies targeting citizens withdrawing cash from banks in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Police officials stated that the suspects frequently resorted to violence, injuring victims who resisted during the robberies.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said that law enforcement agencies are committed to ensuring strict legal action against the suspects. He emphasized that police will complete all legal formalities to secure exemplary punishment for those involved in criminal activities.
Tariq added that Islamabad police will continue indiscriminate operations against individuals and organized gangs depriving citizens of their valuables. He reaffirmed that large-scale operations against active criminal networks are underway to improve public safety and strengthen law enforcement across the federal capital.
Police officials urged citizens to remain cautious while withdrawing large sums of money and report suspicious activities to authorities immediately.
