US Approves Nearly $16 Billion in Arms Sales to Israel and Saudi Arabia

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

The United States has approved major arms sales totaling nearly USD16 billion to key Middle Eastern allies Israel and Saudi Arabia as regional tensions particularly involving Iran remain high.

On Friday, the US State Department approved a potential USD6.67 billion arms package for Israel. The deal includes 30 AH 64E Apache attack helicopters valued at approximately USD3.8 billion, equipped with advanced targeting systems and rocket launchers. It also covers 3,250 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) worth about USD1.98 billion, along with additional equipment such as light utility helicopters and armored vehicle power packs.

According to the State Department the sale supports Israel’s ability to maintain a strong self defense posture in line with US national interests. While Israel already receives USD3.8 billion annually in US military aid, the transactions are commercial sales processed through the Foreign Military Sales program.

In a separate approval, Washington cleared a USD9 billion sale of 730 Patriot Advanced Capability 3 Missile Segment Enhancement missiles to Saudi Arabia. The air defense systems are intended to counter aerial threats and enhance Gulf security.

The arms approvals come amid a fragile ceasefire in Gaza and heightened regional risks, including ongoing US military deployments near Iran. The packages were formally notified to Congress and are subject to review before finalization.
