Washington cites serious safety risks, advises citizens to depart via commercial flights immediately
WASHINGTON: The U.S. Department of State has urged American citizens to immediately depart 15 Middle Eastern countries, citing escalating security risks across the region.
In a security update issued Sunday, officials advised Americans to leave via commercial means as soon as possible. The advisory covers Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
Officials warned of “serious safety risks,” though specific threats were not publicly detailed. The department said Americans needing assistance arranging departure can contact embassies or call emergency hotlines operating around the clock.
The move comes amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over the safety of U.S. nationals abroad. Travelers were encouraged to monitor official advisories and avoid high-risk areas.
