The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will undertake a two day state visit to Pakistan from February 5 to 6 the Foreign Office (FO) confirmed on Wednesday.This high level visit reflects the growing momentum in bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs President Mirziyoyev will meet President Asif Ali Zardari and hold delegation level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He is also scheduled to address the Pakistan Uzbekistan Business Forum highlighting the importance both nations place on economic and commercial cooperation.
The discussions will cover the entire spectrum of bilateral relations with a focus on expanding cooperation in key areas including trade energy defence, education people to people exchanges and regional connectivity.Several agreements and memoranda of understanding are expected to be discussed to further strengthen institutional and economic ties.
President Mirziyoyev will lead a high level delegation comprising senior ministers and prominent business leaders underlining Uzbekistan’s commitment to deepening engagement with Pakistan.
The Foreign Office noted that this will be the Uzbek president’s second visit to Pakistan, symbolizing the upward trajectory of Pak Uzbek relations which are rooted in shared history faith and common aspirations for peace and prosperity in Central and South Asia.
