Rawalpindi: The district administration has announced a zero tolerance policy against overpricing while reviewing Ramadan arrangements and welfare initiatives in the city. Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr. Hassan Tariq visited the Nigehban Dastarkhwan at Cantonment Saddar to assess facilities and ongoing measures aimed at providing relief to citizens during the holy month.
Speaking to the media Dr. Tariq emphasized that profiteering would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He stated that assistant commissioners and price magistrates are conducting daily inspections and monitoring markets to ensure essential commodities are sold at officially notified rates. Shopkeepers were directed to display price lists prominently with warnings of strict action including fines and sealing of shops for violations.
Dr. Tariq also joined guests associated with Maryam Nawaz Sharif at the Nigehban Dastarkhwan for iftar highlighting the government’s commitment to public welfare during Ramadan. He reiterated that providing maximum relief to citizens remains a top priority for the administration.
Residents were urged to report pricing complaints to relevant assistant commissioner offices or designated helplines to enable swift enforcement. Authorities maintain that consistent monitoring and decisive action will help stabilize prices and protect consumers throughout Ramadan in Rawalpindi.
