Security forces say intelligence-led operations in Mastung destroyed suspected militant hideouts, recovered weapons and explosives, and brought the total number of militants killed under the ongoing operation to 13.
QUETTA: Security forces have killed 13 suspected militants during ongoing intelligence-based operations under Operation Azm in Balochistan, according to security sources, as authorities continue efforts to dismantle militant networks in the province.
The latest operation was carried out in the Khad Kocha area of Mastung district after intelligence reports indicated the presence of armed militants. Troops launched a coordinated raid and engaged the suspects, resulting in multiple militant casualties. Officials did not specify how many militants were killed in the latest encounter but confirmed the overall death toll during the ongoing operation has reached 13.
Security sources said the operation also targeted infrastructure allegedly used by the group referred to as Fitna al-Hindustan. Multiple suspected hideouts were destroyed as part of efforts to disrupt militant activities and prevent future attacks in the region.
During the raid, security personnel recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, explosives and materials allegedly used to manufacture improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Authorities said the recovered items will undergo forensic examination as part of the continuing investigation.
According to security sources, several suspected militants were also injured during the operation. However, officials have not released the identities of those involved or confirmed the number of wounded.
The operation is part of a broader campaign of intelligence-led actions being conducted across Balochistan against suspected militant networks. Security officials said these operations are based on intelligence information and are aimed at eliminating armed groups while improving the province’s security environment.
