ISPR says intelligence-based operations conducted across multiple districts of Balochistan after the May 24 train incident resulted in the killing of 17 militants and the recovery of a large cache of weapons and explosives.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have intensified counterterrorism operations across Balochistan following the train incident that occurred on May 24, 2026, with the military announcing significant gains against militant networks operating in the province.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a series of coordinated intelligence-based operations were launched in several districts, including Mastung, Noshki, Zehri, Khuzdar, and Kech. The operations targeted multiple militant hideouts identified through intelligence gathering.
The military said that after intense exchanges of fire, 17 militants affiliated with what it described as the Indian-sponsored group “Fitna al Hindustan” were killed. ISPR stated that the operations dealt a major blow to the operational infrastructure and networks of the group in the region.
Security forces also recovered a substantial quantity of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the militants. According to the military, those killed had been involved in several high-profile terrorist activities in the area.
ISPR said sanitization operations remain underway to clear the affected locations and ensure that no remaining threats are present.
The military further emphasized that Pakistan’s nationwide counterterrorism campaign will continue under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan. Security and law enforcement agencies, it said, remain committed to eliminating foreign-sponsored terrorism and maintaining stability across the country.
