Security forces killed 21 militants in separate operations and clashes across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the military’s media wing.
RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed 21 militants in separate clashes and operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to the military’s media wing, security forces conducted an operation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan, killing 10 militants.
The operation was launched during the night between Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 after security forces detected militant activity in the area, the ISPR said.
In a separate intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan, security forces killed seven more militants during an exchange of fire, according to the statement.
Two additional clashes were reported in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan, where four militants were killed, the ISPR said.
The military said the militants killed in the latest operations were among those attempting to infiltrate into Pakistan. With the latest casualties, the overall number of militants killed while attempting to cross into Pakistan has reached 25, according to the ISPR.
The ISPR also alleged that militant groups were carrying out cross-border attacks against Pakistan from Afghan territory.
The military called on the Afghan Taliban government to take effective measures to strengthen border management and prevent militant groups from using Afghan soil for activities against Pakistan.
The ISPR further said the Taliban administration had so far failed to prevent terrorist organisations from operating from its territory against Pakistan.
