United Airlines ‘Relax Row’ Set to Redefine Economy Travel Comfort

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Airline introduces lounge-style economy seating aimed at improving long-haul comfort without premium cabin prices.

CHICAGO: United Airlines is introducing a new economy seating concept, “Relax Row,” designed to offer passengers more space and comfort on long-haul flights without moving into premium cabins.

The airline said the redesigned section will combine three adjacent economy seats with adjustable leg rests that raise to form a lounge-style, near-flat surface after takeoff. Each setup will include a mattress pad, pillows, blankets and additional comfort kits for families and children.

Positioned between standard economy and Premium Plus, the product targets travelers seeking extra comfort on long international routes at a mid-tier price point. United plans to begin rolling out the feature in 2027, with installation across select Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft expected to reach more than 200 planes by 2030.

Each aircraft will feature up to 12 Relax Rows, according to the airline. Pricing details have not yet been released, but the concept is expected to cost more than standard economy while remaining below business class fares.

United said the goal is to improve flexibility and rest options as airlines compete to enhance long-haul economy experiences. Similar couch-style seating exists on some international carriers, but United claims it will be the first major North American airline to scale the concept widely.
