Limited indoor drone use allowed during private events as authorities stress public safety and strict enforcement.
LAHORE: The government of Punjab has extended the enforcement of Section 144 across the province, prolonging a ban on outdoor drone operations for another 30 days, officials said Friday.
According to a spokesperson for the provincial Home Department, the restriction on flying drones in open spaces will remain in effect until April 25, citing ongoing security concerns. The move is aimed at ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order, and protecting property across the province.
Authorities clarified that while outdoor drone use remains strictly prohibited, limited use of small drones will be permitted to enter indoor settings such as wedding halls and marquees during private events. However, event organizers will bear full responsibility for ensuring the safe operation of drones within enclosed venues.
The notification also states that law enforcement agencies and intelligence institutions are exempt from the ban, allowing them to operate drones for official and security purposes.
Officials have directed local administrations and police departments throughout Punjab to strictly enforce the orders, warning that violations will be dealt with under the law.
The provincial government reiterated that safeguarding citizens and maintaining peace remain its top priorities as security measures continue to be tightened.
