LAHORE – Quetta Gladiators posted a competitive 174-8 against Hyderabad Kingsmen in their second PSL 11 match at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday, thanks to steady innings by Shamyl Hussain and Hassan Nawaz.
Batting first, Quetta had a promising start as openers captain Saud and Shamyl added quick runs. However, Hyderabad’s Riley Meredith struck early, dismissing Saud in the second over and Rilee Rossouw for a duck in the fourth, putting Quetta under pressure.
Shamyl (54 off 41 balls, 3 fours, 3 sixes) and Hassan Nawaz then built a crucial 50-run partnership to stabilize the innings. Maheesh Theekshana turned the game slightly in Hyderabad’s favor in the 15th over, taking two quick wickets, including Khawaja Nafay for six and Ben McDermott for a duck.
In the final overs, Tom Curran’s boundaries took Quetta past 150. Akif Javed finished with two wickets, dismissing Curran (31 off 18) and Alzarri Joseph for a duck. Abrar Ahmed (9*) and Ahmed Daniyal (6 off 8) helped Quetta reach a solid 174-8, setting a challenging target for Hyderabad.
