KP Health Ministry emphasizes comprehensive elderly care and non-communicable disease management.
Peshawar: On World Health Day 2026, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department, led by Provincial Health Minister Khaliq Rahman, organized a one-day policy workshop focusing on elderly care. The workshop aimed to integrate comprehensive health services for senior citizens into the provincial health framework.
Experts, policymakers, and partner organizations attended the workshop, discussing global elderly care models (ICOPE) and strategies to manage non-communicable diseases (NCDs) effectively within the health system.
Minister Khaliq Rahman emphasized the government’s commitment to providing dignified, timely, and high-quality healthcare to older adults. He highlighted the growing demographic challenges and stressed the need to prioritize elderly health concerns.
He added that the integrated care model would not only strengthen the healthcare system but also promote healthy aging at the community level.
The workshop concluded with a pledge to incorporate the recommendations into the provincial health policy, ensuring a sustainable, comprehensive, and people-friendly healthcare system.
