KP CM Sohail Afridi emphasizes respectful treatment, lawful policy enforcement, and humanitarian support for Afghan residents.
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Friday reaffirmed its stance that Afghan brothers and sisters are not strangers but are connected through decades-long relations of friendship and brotherhood, according to provincial officials.
Officials said the government’s position has always been clear that any individuals involved in activities harmful to Pakistan would face legal action. However, those contributing positively to the economy, conducting lawful business, and living peacefully in the country should be treated with dignity and respect.
Sohail Afridi, speaking on the matter, said that if repatriation is required under national policy, the process must be carried out with honor and dignity. “They are our guests and brothers, and there will be no compromise on their respect,” he said.
The provincial government is reportedly providing food, shelter, and other essential facilities to affected individuals, including support for accommodation costs. Officials emphasized that all possible steps are being taken to ensure humane treatment in line with Pashtun traditions and values.
