Suspect wanted in rape case taken into custody after being injured during attempted resistance
RAHIM YAR KHAN: A suspect wanted in a rape case was injured by accidental gunfire and later arrested during a police operation in Rahim Yar Khan, a police spokesperson said on Sunday.
According to officials, the case was registered at Iqbalabad Police Station after the victim’s mother filed a complaint alleging sexual assault by the suspect, identified as Falak Sher. Police said raids were underway to apprehend the accused.
During a targeted operation, the suspect allegedly attempted to resist arrest and tried to draw a pistol. In the process, the weapon discharged accidentally, leaving him seriously injured, police said.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody and shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. His condition is being monitored.
District Police Officer Irfan Ali Samo reiterated a zero-tolerance policy toward crimes against women, emphasizing that strict action would be taken against offenders.
