A family outing turned violent at Changa Manga Lake in Kasur district when a group of youths allegedly attacked visitors and later clashed with police.
CHUNIAN, KASUR DISTRICT: A recreational visit to Changa Manga Lake turned violent on Tuesday when several young men allegedly attacked a visiting family, according to local media reports.
The incident occurred while the family was enjoying time at the popular picnic and boating site. Witnesses said a group of youths suddenly confronted the visitors, leading to a physical altercation in which male members of the family were reportedly assaulted in front of women and children.
As tensions escalated, bystanders contacted police for assistance. However, upon arrival, law enforcement personnel also faced resistance from the same group, who allegedly engaged in aggressive behavior toward the responding officers. The situation briefly created panic among other visitors at the recreational spot.
Police officials said initial reports suggest the confrontation may have stemmed from a personal dispute that escalated into a broader clash. Security personnel managed to regain control of the area after intervention, and an investigation has been launched to identify those involved.
The affected family has been shifted to a safer location for medical and legal support, while authorities are reviewing available footage and eyewitness accounts. Additional police deployment has been considered to prevent further disturbances at the site.
Local administration has stated that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for disturbing public order at tourist locations.
