Woman in traffic police uniform claiming to be ASI detained after verification revealed she had no official deployment or credentials
Islamabad: A woman impersonating a traffic police officer was detained in the Khanna police jurisdiction area near Dhoke Kala Khan close to Lohay Wala Pul after officials discovered she was wearing a police-style uniform without any official authorization or duty assignment.
According to police sources, the incident occurred when routine duty personnel, including Head Constable Nighat (belt number 713) and Head Constable Samina Zahoor (number 7378), noticed a woman sitting at a traffic point dressed in a traffic police uniform resembling the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI). The uniform included a nameplate bearing a religiously significant name, raising further suspicion among on-duty officers.
When questioned about her presence and duty assignment, the woman claimed she was posted at the same checkpoint and identified herself as part of the 18 police batch. However, officials became doubtful of her statements and sought further verification.
Subsequently, Sub-Inspector Ghulam Yaseen also arrived at the scene and conducted additional inquiry. Upon investigation, it was determined that the woman’s actual identity was Iqra Bibi from District Abbottabad. Police confirmed that she was not assigned to any traffic duty and had no official authorization to wear the uniform.
Authorities stated that the woman was found impersonating a law enforcement officer, which constitutes a violation of law. She was taken into custody and shifted to Khanna police station for further legal proceedings under the supervision of SP Rural, SP Saddar, and DSP Naeem.
