Elite Police Pass Out: 318 Commandos Graduate as KP Steps Up War Against Terror

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

IG Zulfiqar Hameed praises advanced combat training as new batch prepares to tackle evolving security threats.

PESHAWAR: In a strong signal of intensified counterterrorism readiness, Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Zulfiqar Hameed on Friday attended a high-profile passing-out parade of elite commandos at the Elite Police Training Center in Nowshera, marking the completion of the 22nd Basic Elite Course.

The ceremony showcased the graduation of 318 highly trained personnel, selected from an initial intake of nearly 500 recruits — a reflection of the rigorous and demanding nature of the program. Officials said the course was designed to align with modern combat requirements, equipping officers with cutting-edge skills to confront evolving militant threats.

Addressing the ceremony, the provincial police chief emphasized that the newly trained personnel represent the future frontline against terrorism. He noted that the program integrates modern warfare techniques, tactical shooting, sniper training, and hand-to-hand combat, ensuring that officers are both physically and mentally prepared for high-risk operations.

“The training you have received is of the highest standard. Courage, discipline, and integrity must define your service,” Hameed said, urging the graduates to set an example for the entire force.

The training curriculum included advanced modules such as thermal combat operations, improvised explosive device (IED) disposal, swimming and water-based tactics, and mixed martial arts. Officials highlighted that these enhancements were introduced to ensure that elite personnel maintain superiority over increasingly sophisticated militant tactics.

Senior police officials, including members of the Special Branch and Elite Force command, were also present at the ceremony. The event featured a formal parade, salute by graduating officers, and the distribution of awards to top-performing trainees.

Authorities say the Elite Police Training Center has played a pivotal role over the past two decades in strengthening the province’s law enforcement capabilities. The latest graduating batch is expected to significantly boost operational readiness as security forces continue efforts to dismantle militant networks.

With security challenges evolving rapidly, officials reiterated their commitment to equipping the force with modern tools and training, vowing to eliminate terrorism through enhanced capacity and strategic preparedness.
