AJK Government Takes Major Action: Why Was a Powerful Public Movement Suddenly Banned?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir authorities have formally declared the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee a proscribed organization under anti-terrorism laws, citing security concerns and alleged involvement in activities threatening public order.

The Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has issued a significant notification declaring the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee a banned organization under the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Terrorism Act 2014.

According to the notification released by the Home Department, the organization, along with entities operating under the names Jammu Kashmir Action Committee, Joint Awami Action Committee, and Awami Action Committee, has been placed in the First Schedule of proscribed organizations. Officials stated that the decision was approved by the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir following recommendations from relevant authorities.

The government alleged that reasonable evidence exists showing the organization’s involvement in activities that could undermine peace, security, and public order within the state. The notification further claimed that the group was involved in creating unrest, spreading fear among the public, fostering insecurity in society, and promoting hatred that could negatively affect state stability.

The ban has been imposed under Section 12 of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Terrorism Act 2014. Authorities emphasized that legal action would be taken against the organization in accordance with the law.

Copies of the notification have been sent to federal and regional authorities, including the Ministry of Interior, ministers, senior government officials, law enforcement agencies, and intelligence departments. Instructions have also been issued to administrative and police authorities across the Muzaffarabad, Poonch, and Mirpur divisions to ensure implementation of the decision.

The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace, enforcing the rule of law, and protecting public safety, stating that no organization would be allowed to threaten public security or disrupt the state’s administrative order.
