Federal budget proposal for 2026-27 prioritizes judicial infrastructure upgrades, new court facilities, and digital modernization across Pakistan.
A major fiscal proposal has placed the judiciary at the center of Pakistan’s development agenda, with the government earmarking Rs2 billion for the Ministry of Law and Justice, Pakistan in the 2026-27 budget. The allocation signals a continued push to strengthen court infrastructure and improve access to justice through expanded facilities and digital reforms.
According to official budget documents, Rs1.18 billion has been reserved for ongoing projects, while Rs820 million is planned for new initiatives. A significant portion targets construction and expansion of judicial buildings, residences, and facilitation centers nationwide.
Key allocations include funding for judges’ residences under the proposed Federal Constitutional Court framework, alongside land acquisition and security infrastructure for the Islamabad High Court. Additional support is directed toward facilitation centers aimed at improving services for litigants.
The budget also extends to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, with funding for expanding its Karachi branch registry, and infrastructure development in Quetta. In Peshawar, new court complexes and Federal Shariat Court facilities are included under the development plan.
Officials say the proposal also emphasizes modernization, with funds allocated for automation of federal courts, digitization of legal records, and capacity building across legal departments.
If approved, the package is expected to accelerate judicial efficiency while improving physical and digital access to justice across the country.
