Police Check Turns Into Deadly Gun Battle — One Notorious Robber Killed, Officer Critically Injured

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

A police checking operation in Rawalpindi’s New Town area turned into a fierce gun battle, leaving a constable critically injured, one notorious robber dead, and another suspect arrested.

A late-night police checking operation in Rawalpindi’s New Town area escalated into a violent exchange of gunfire after motorcycle-riding suspects allegedly opened fire on a police team.

According to police officials, the suspects were signaled to stop during a routine checking operation when they reportedly began firing at officers. During the shootout, Constable Khurshid Ayaz sustained serious injuries and was immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

Police retaliated and successfully neutralized one of the attackers while arresting another suspect. Authorities also recovered a stolen motorcycle, reportedly taken from the New Town area, along with weapons used by the suspects.

The deceased suspect was identified as Nigel alias Sheron, a notorious criminal with a history of involvement in robbery-cum-murder cases and several other criminal offenses. Police said he had previously been convicted by a court in a robbery and murder case. Investigators further claimed that the suspect was involved in the killing of another citizen during a robbery incident approximately two weeks ago.

Senior police officers rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident and reviewed the situation. Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani praised the efforts of the police team, including officers from New Town Police Station and supervisory officials, for their bravery during the encounter.

The CPO stated that individuals who attack police officers and endanger the lives and property of citizens will not escape the reach of the law.
