Reports claim authorities have initiated geo-fencing and monitoring of sit-in participants, though no official confirmation has been issued.
MUZAFFARABAD: Reports have emerged suggesting that the Azad Kashmir Home Department has allegedly begun geo-fencing and digital monitoring of individuals participating in a sit-in organized by the proscribed Action Committee, triggering concerns and debate over the scope of administrative measures being considered against protesters.
According to sources, authorities have initiated a tracking and digital surveillance process aimed at identifying individuals present at the protest site. The reported exercise is said to focus on recording the identities and movement patterns of participants through technological means.
Sources further claim that officials are reviewing additional measures, including the possible blocking of passports, placement of certain individuals on the Exit Control List (ECL), and restrictions that could affect access to various government and non-government services.
However, no formal statement has been issued by the Azad Kashmir government or the Home Department regarding these claims. The reported actions have not been independently verified, and officials have yet to publicly confirm whether such steps are under consideration.
The reports come amid heightened political tensions in Azad Kashmir, where recent protests and sit-ins have drawn significant public attention. Authorities have repeatedly emphasized the need to maintain law and order, while opposition groups and protesters continue to press their demands through demonstrations and public gatherings.
