QUETTA: Senior boxing athlete Ahmad Yar was shot dead in Quetta on Tuesday in an incident police say stemmed from a domestic dispute, prompting an investigation and a citywide search for the suspect.

According to police, the shooting occurred in the Hazarganji area, where Ahmad Yar was allegedly attacked by his cousin, identified as Anwar. The suspect is accused of opening fire before fleeing the scene.

Law enforcement officials said investigators collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and have launched a formal investigation. Raids are being conducted in different parts of the city to locate and arrest the suspect.

Police said the case is being examined from multiple angles to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing. Authorities expressed confidence that the accused would be apprehended and brought before the courts.
