Pakistan’s security forces intensified intelligence-based operations, targeting militant hideouts along the Afghan border and in Bajaur, killing 29 terrorists and destroying key infrastructure linked to banned outfits.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have carried out a series of intelligence-based operations against terrorist networks, killing a total of 29 militants in coordinated actions near the Afghan border and in Bajaur, officials said.
According to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, security forces targeted militant hideouts in the Afghan border regions of Paktika, Paktia and Kunar, eliminating 25 terrorists. Three major bases linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar were destroyed during the operation, along with large stockpiles of weapons and ammunition.
The minister said protecting citizens remains the government’s top priority and vowed that counterterrorism operations would continue until terrorism is completely eradicated. He added that the latest actions were a strong response to recent terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Karachi.
In a separate intelligence-based operation in Bajaur, security forces killed Khan Farosh, also known as Zabal, described as a key commander of the banned Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, along with four of his associates.
