Pakistan and Türkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to achieving $5 billion in bilateral trade while expanding cooperation in investment, energy, defence, information technology, infrastructure, and strategic industries following high-level talks in Istanbul.
Pakistan and Türkiye have renewed their commitment to significantly expand economic cooperation, reaffirming their shared goal of increasing bilateral trade to $5 billion during high-level talks between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul.
Speaking at a joint press conference, President Erdoğan said both countries remained focused on achieving the ambitious trade target through stronger investment and commercial partnerships. He confirmed progress on establishing a special economic zone in Karachi for Turkish investors and highlighted ongoing discussions to expand financial and trade cooperation. He also encouraged Turkish companies to increase investments in Pakistan, particularly in defence and strategic industries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described Pakistan and Türkiye as longstanding partners that have consistently supported each other during challenging times. He said both governments were entering a new phase of economic collaboration, focusing on trade, investment, energy, petroleum exploration, mining, information technology, infrastructure, and industrial development.
The leaders also held delegation-level talks at Istanbul’s Vahdettin Palace, agreeing to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors while maintaining close coordination on regional and international matters. Prime Minister Shehbaz invited President Erdoğan to visit Pakistan later this year for the next session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.
