Norway’s King Harald V’s Health Deteriorates During Hospital Treatment

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Norway’s King Harald V has suffered a health setback while receiving treatment for haemolytic anaemia and a bloodstream infection.

OSLO: Norway’s 89-year-old King Harald V suffered a deterioration in his health over the weekend while receiving treatment at Oslo University Hospital, the Norwegian royal palace said Sunday.

The monarch is being treated for haemolytic anaemia, a condition in which red blood cells are destroyed faster than the body can replace them. The disorder can cause fatigue, pale skin and breathing difficulties.

The palace said Harald is also receiving antibiotics for a bacterial infection in his bloodstream. Doctors have reported that he has responded to the antibiotic treatment.

The king was admitted to hospital Monday after developing fluid retention associated with cortisone treatment. He was subsequently placed on sick leave for two weeks as he continues to receive medical care.

Harald has also cancelled a planned visit to Norway’s central Trondelag region, which had been scheduled for Sept. 1 and 2. The visit was expected to take place shortly after his previously announced period of medical leave.

The Norwegian monarch, who became king in 1991, has experienced several health problems in recent years. Despite his recurring medical issues, Harald has repeatedly rejected suggestions that he could abdicate the throne.
