Resolution Targets Fazlur Rehman After Remarks on Security Institutions Spark Political Storm

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Punjab Assembly member Shoaib Siddiqui says remarks against national security institutions risk harming national interests, as political reactions continue to intensify.

LAHORE: A fresh political controversy has emerged after Punjab Assembly member and senior Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party leader Shoaib Siddiqui submitted a resolution against JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman over his remarks concerning Pakistan’s national security institutions.

The resolution states that criticism directed at security institutions was disappointing, irresponsible, and could undermine national interests. It argues that questioning the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army and security personnel goes beyond legitimate political criticism and is insensitive to the families of those who lost their lives while serving the country.

Siddiqui said the armed forces and security institutions deserve respect for their role in safeguarding Pakistan’s security and stability. He added that the nation recognizes and values the dedication and sacrifices of military personnel and other security officials working to protect the country.

The resolution further urges political leaders to avoid statements that could create divisions or weaken public confidence in institutions responsible for national defence, stressing that such institutions deserve appreciation and public support.

The development follows criticism of remarks made by Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the role and sacrifices of security forces, prompting reactions across the political spectrum.

Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif strongly criticized Fazlur Rehman’s comments, calling them morally insensitive. He said linking the sacrifices of soldiers to their salaries was unfair and deeply hurtful to the families of martyrs, adding that those defending the country do not risk their lives merely for financial compensation.
