Iran claims missile attacks on US military assets in the Indian Ocean and Bahrain while warning that continued American strikes could trigger a broader military offensive.
Iran claimed on Saturday that it launched a cruise missile strike against a United States warship in the northern Indian Ocean, marking another sharp escalation in the ongoing confrontation between Tehran and Washington.
According to the Iranian military, the missile targeted a US naval vessel operating in the region. Iranian officials did not disclose the extent of any damage or report possible casualties. The United States had not publicly confirmed or responded to the claim at the time of reporting.
In a separate statement, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it carried out an attack in Bahrain, claiming to have struck a facility used to store US military drones and destroyed an artificial intelligence center. Those claims have not been independently verified.
The latest developments come amid several days of military exchanges between Iran and the United States, fueling concerns of a wider regional conflict across the Middle East.
Mohsen Rezaei, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, warned that any additional US strikes inside Iranian territory could significantly alter the course of the conflict. He said Iran has so far maintained a defensive military posture but could shift to a full-scale offensive strategy if American attacks continue.
