Information Minister Attaullah Tarar says investigations are continuing after the arrest of a digital marketing operator allegedly linked to anti-Pakistan propaganda networks.
Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has claimed that authorities possess evidence linking the funding of “mischief-making elements” to India, alleging that anti-state propaganda campaigns were coordinated through digital platforms and artificial intelligence.
Speaking during a media briefing, Tarar said the individuals associated with the banned Joint Action Committee and other extremist elements would be held accountable for their actions. He alleged that the group’s connections with India had become evident through ongoing investigations.
The minister said a suspect arrested by security agencies is currently being investigated over alleged links to digital services that were used to spread anti-Pakistan content. According to Tarar, investigators are examining evidence suggesting coordinated online campaigns designed to damage Pakistan’s image.
He further alleged that artificial intelligence was used to manipulate old videos and falsely portray them as recent footage from Kashmir, describing the tactic as part of a broader misinformation campaign targeting Pakistan.
Highlighting Pakistan’s recent achievements, Tarar said the country had earned international recognition for its success during the conflict with India and had also secured significant diplomatic gains following developments on the military front.
The minister emphasized that combating misinformation is the government’s responsibility and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and regional stability. He also credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for enhancing Pakistan’s international standing through sustained diplomatic and strategic efforts.
