DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has called for province-wide intelligence-based operations to combat terrorism, stressing that close coordination between the federal and provincial governments is essential to restore lasting peace.
Speaking to reporters at the Regional Police Office in Dera Ismail Khan, Kundi described the fight against terrorism as a national responsibility that requires unity and collective resolve. He said more than 1,300 kilograms of explosives were used in the recent terrorist attack on the Manjhi Khel check post in Tank district, highlighting the scale and planning behind the assault.
The governor paid tribute to the Pakistan Army, police personnel and a Forest Department official who lost their lives in the attack, saying their sacrifices would never be forgotten. He also praised the armed forces and security agencies for confronting security challenges under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Kundi alleged that militants operating from Afghan territory were receiving Indian support to destabilise Pakistan. He further claimed that weapons abandoned in Afghanistan were increasingly being used in attacks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The governor assured that he would raise the issue of enhanced compensation for injured personnel with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister. During his visit, he met injured security personnel at the Combined Military Hospital, distributed financial assistance to the families of martyrs and received a detailed briefing on the Manjhi Khel attack.
Reiterating his call for intelligence-led operations, Kundi said defeating terrorism required a united national response backed by effective cooperation between all state institutions.
