Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar says Pakistan will not allow any group to undermine peace in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, defending the credibility of the recent elections and warning against violent activities.
RAWALAKOT: Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Ataullah Tarar has defended the conduct of the recent elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), describing them as peaceful, transparent and widely participated in by voters and major political parties.
Speaking in Rawalakot, Tarar said the people of AJK responded enthusiastically to the electoral process. He noted that mainstream political parties, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), actively campaigned through public rallies and corner meetings.
The minister claimed that a violent group attempted to disturb law and order after the elections, alleging that its members were unable to accept the peaceful completion of the democratic process. He further alleged that prohibited weapons were recovered from the group and accused it of pursuing an external agenda supported by Indian funding. No evidence supporting these allegations was presented during the remarks.
Tarar said the government would not permit anyone to endanger public safety or disrupt peace through violence. He reaffirmed the federal government’s support for the AJK administration and stressed that maintaining law and order remains a top priority.
The minister also said the people of Kashmir had rejected violence by participating in the elections and warned that any attempts to harm the Kashmir cause or destabilise the region would fail.
