PSX Surges: KSE-100 Index Rockets Over 5,000 Points in a Week as Investor Confidence Returns

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Pakistan’s benchmark KSE-100 Index posted one of its strongest weekly gains of the year as robust trading activity, rising market capitalization and sustained investor buying fueled renewed optimism.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended the week with a powerful rally, as the benchmark KSE-100 Index surged by 5,072 points to close at 176,094, reflecting renewed investor confidence and strong buying across key sectors.

The weekly performance highlighted sustained bullish momentum in the local equity market. During the five trading sessions, the KSE-100 Index traded within a broad range of 4,510 points, reaching an intraday high of 179,123 before touching a weekly low of 174,612. The movement pointed to active participation from investors and healthy market liquidity.

Trading volumes remained strong throughout the week, with approximately 4.15 billion shares changing hands. The total value of transactions reached Rs158 billion, underscoring continued investor interest in Pakistan’s equity market despite lingering economic challenges.

The rally also boosted the market’s overall capitalization, which increased by Rs477 billion to Rs19.755 trillion. The sharp rise in listed companies’ market value reflected improving sentiment among both institutional and retail investors.

Analysts attributed the market’s impressive performance to sustained institutional buying and growing expectations of improving macroeconomic conditions. Optimism surrounding economic stability and corporate performance has continued to support buying interest in recent weeks.

Despite the strong gains, market observers say investors will remain focused on upcoming economic data, corporate earnings announcements and government policy decisions, which could influence the market’s direction in the near term.
